Youth Activism

Small churches and churches with few numbers of youth will be delighted that someone has finally written a resource just for them! Balcomb helps them discover the joys and power of a single-digit youth group and provides the practical help they need. She opens with the scriptural basis for creating a ministry for even just one youth, certainly two or three. Other chapters examine the benefits of a small youth group, how to find adult leaders, starting or restarting a single-digit youth group, creating a cooperative youth group ministry, and dealing effectively with safety issues. The book is filled with awesome activities for single-digit youth groups (41 great activities, to be exact)! From her years of experience programming for and ministering with small youth groups with a wide range of ages, Balcomb has put together a collection of experiences that work effectively with youth groups of fewer than ten.

The Teaching Activities Manual for "The Catholic Faith Handbook for Youth" is designed not as a curriculum but as a collection of activities to help teachers make their current curriculum more meaningful and effective. Each chapter coincides with a chapter in The Catholic Faith Handbook for Youth (CFH) and includes several activities that address the chapter's themes. Two appendices help teachers use the CFH with their class. "Additional Resources" is a section that lists books, movies, and songs to use in class. "Prayer Experiences" is a collection of ten prayer services on themes present in the CFH. The prayer services require minimal supplies and are designed to take 10 to 20 minutes.

Community youth workers - Community youth workers are young people and adults who are engaged in education, empowerment, activism, or other activities focused on adolescents in community-based settings, including churches, schools, or community centers. As a distinct field, community youth work, (often just called youth work), has been established in the United States since the early 20th century.

Abbie Hoffman - Abbott "Abbie" Hoffman (November 30, 1936 â€“ April 12, 1989) was a social and political activist in the United States, co-founder of the Youth International Party ("Yippies") and, later, a fugitive from the law, who lived under an alias following a conviction for dealing cocaine. Hoffman came to prominence in the 1960s, but practiced most of his activism in the 1970s, and has remained a symbol of the youth rebellion of that decade.

European youth forum - The European Youth Forum is an international organization established by national youth councils and international non-governmental youth organizations to represent the interests of young people ("youth voice") from all over Europe. It is the youth platform in Europe representing youth organizations in international institutions - mainly the European Union, the Council of Europe and the United Nations.
